Michigan LCV Calls on Michigan to Heed President Obama's Calls to Action on Energy, Climate Change

Michigan League of Conservation Voters (Michigan LCV) said President Obama’s State of the Union address set an example of strong leadership on clean energy and climate change. President Obama tied the recovery of Michigan’s automobile industry to increased fuel efficiency standards, and he called for action to address climate change now. Michigan LCV’s Executive Director, Lisa Wozniak, released this statement in response to the address:

This time last week, Governor Snyder was preparing for his State of the State address in Lansing, and we were preparing to cover it on all fronts. The annual address is the Governor’s opportunity to lay out a vision for the next year, and identify his priorities. For Michigan LCV, it was our job to hold the Governor accountable for prioritizing Michigan’s natural resources, and cover the conservation angles for our members.

Michigan DEQ to Permit Development in Critical Dune Land

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) intends to issue a permit that would undermine the value of pristine shoreline by allowing road development within 300 acres of critical dune land, just south of the Saugatuck Dunes State Park.
