Environmental Groups Press State to Protect Michigan’s Clean Water, Public Health from Fracking

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (LCV), Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, Moms Clean Air Force Michigan, and more than 25 environmental and conservation organizations called for stronger safeguards for Michigan’s clean water and public health against hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, today. In a letter sent to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the groups pressed for more rigorous fracking rules that adequately protect the quality and quantity of Michigan’s freshwater. Today is the final day for public input on the draft of the rules released by the DEQ earlier this year.

Michigan LCV Releases New Polling Numbers, Robust Radio Ad Buy in Northern Michigan Republican Primary Races

Michigan League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released new polling results and a robust radio advertising campaign in key Republican primary races in Northern Michigan today. New polling numbers show Wayne Schmidt with a strong lead against Greg MacMaster in the race for the 37th Senate district. Among 519 Michigan citizens polled in the 37th Senate district, 44.5 percent supported Schmidt compared to 34.9 percent who supported MacMaster, leaving an almost 10 point spread and a breakaway for Schmidt. The poll’s margin of error is 4.25 percent.

Poll Shows Schmidt Poised to Take the Lead from MacMaster in Primary Race for the 37th Senate Seat

New polling released today shows that State Representative Wayne Schmidt (R - Traverse City) is positioned perfectly to take the lead from State Representative Greg MacMaster (R - Kewadin) in the Republican primary race for the 37th Senate seat. Numbers show that Schmidt is closing in on MacMaster quickly, leaving only a 1.7 percent spread between them, which is well within the 4.41 percent margin of error.

Michigan LCV Endorses Bipartisan Group of Conservation Candidates in State Legislative Primaries

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters (LCV) announced the endorsement of three candidates in state primary races today: State Representative Wayne Schmidt (R - Traverse City) for the 37th Senate District, State Representative Frank Foster (R - Pellston) for the 107th House District and Democratic candidate Kristy Pagan for the 21st House District. All candidates are running in competitive races that are critical for conservation issues in Michigan.
