Small Wind: Will It Work for You? A pair of Michigan State University agricultural economists are holding presentations throughout the state to help answer that question. The talks run from Tuesday through Sept. 9.

Steve Harsh and Lynn Hamilton, with MSU's Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, will be speaking in seven counties about using small wind turbines to power farms, homes and businesses.

Recent changes to state and federal law make wind energy an even better investment than in the past, according to Hamilton. The United States Department of Agriculture Renewable Energy for America Program also provides grants for farms and rural small businesses. More than $70 million in grants have been allocated for 2011 and 2012.

For more information on the workshops, contact your local MSU Extension office or Hamilton at (517) 332-6656. No registration is necessary for the events.
