Kathleen Law Endorsed for Michigan's 7th Senate District

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters endorses Kathleen Law in her bid to become the next state senator for Michigan’s 7th District.

Law's commitment to generating new green jobs for Wayne County residents, while investing in the necessary training for this emerging sector, is the kind of vision her district needs in this difficult economy.

“Kathleen has the potential to put the manufacturing sector back to work in Wayne County,” said Ryan Werder, political director for the MLCV.

“She understands that a clean energy economy depends on skilled workers who can build and design the infrastructure that enables industries like wind, solar, and mass transit to flourish.

"Furthermore, Kathleen has a 100% lifetime voting record on conservation issues and will be a trusted ally in the effort to establish Michigan as the center of the clean energy economy.”

Law added, “Right now we are seeing energy costs rapidly increasing while unemployment also continues to rise. However, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to address both issues by creating new jobs in Michigan to build the wind turbines, install the solar panels and design better public transit that will power this state well into the future. Michigan already has the talented workforce and strong manufacturing history, all we need now is the strong leadership to guide us to a new sustainable economy.”

Kathleen Law served on the Agriculture and the Great Lakes and Environment committees in the state House. She also was a member of the National Conference of Environmental Legislators, the Great Lakes Legislative Caucus and the National Conference of State Legislators' Agriculture and Energy Committee.

She is a member of the Alliance for Renewable Energy Steering Committee and the Michigan Climate Action Council Energy Supply Technical Work Group.
