Patty Birkholz

West Michigan Director

Patty is the West Michigan Director of Michigan LCV/LCVEF, based in downtown Grand Rapids. Previously, she served five terms in the Michigan Legislature, including three in the House and two in the Senate. During her legislative career, she championed adoption of the historic Great Lakes Water Compact, authored Michigan’s nationally recognized water withdrawal laws, reformed wetlands regulations and authored legislation that established Michigan’s current Renewable Energy Standard. Patty received numerous leadership awards and commendations over the years and was recently appointed to the Great Lakes Advisory Board by the Director of the EPA to provide information and guidance on investments made by the Great Lakes Restoration funding. She also serves on the NOAA, Seagrant, National Advisory Board of Directors. Before joining Michigan LCV/LCVEF in 2013, Patty worked as the Director of the Michigan Office of the Great Lakes.
